Late-in-life love is having a moment — and not just because of The Golden Bachelor. More and more older adults are saying “I do,” whether for the first time or as a meaningful second (or even third) chapter. Remarriage among people over 55 has been on the rise for years, and for good reason — with age often comes clarity, depth, and a deeper understanding of what truly matters in a partner.
Just yesterday, I had the honor of photographing Lori and Chuck — a couple in their 60s whose story could be straight out of Last Tango in Halifax. They first met over 45 years ago, went their separate ways, married others, and built full lives. But fate had other plans. Decades later, they reconnected — and realized they were each other’s true soulmates all along.
Their wedding was nothing short of magical. The love between them was deep, joyful, and full of gratitude. Surrounded by their families, they said “I do” not just with excitement for the future, but with a profound sense of peace in finally coming home to one another. It was truly one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever had the joy to capture.
Love doesn’t follow a timeline. Sometimes it takes decades. But when it arrives — especially the second time around — it can be even more meaningful. Lori and Chuck’s story is a reminder: it’s never too late to find your forever.
